Axial Labs is the engineering and research division of AXL Energy Inc. We design, simulate, build, and deploy underwater swarm turbines. Our production line runs from municipal pipes in Metro Vancouver to tidal currents in the Salish Sea, all of it built and launched from the same city.

What We Build

AXL-T In-Pipe Tubular Propeller Turbines The production line. Miniaturized horizontal-axis propellers designed to slot into existing municipal pressure-reducing stations and gravity-fed supply mains.
Scout Flex-Foil VAWT Self-starting vertical-axis turbines built to scout potential tidal sites. The cheapest way to map a coastline for real instead of guessing from tide tables.
Ducted Horizontal-Axis Harvester The ocean version of our in-pipe turbine, wrapped in a venturi duct. The same BEMT, NACA profiles, and OpenFOAM pipeline that built the in-pipe line, scaled to 2 m rotors.
Autonomous Hydrofoil Kite Velocity-multiplying underwater kite for sites with currents too slow for stationary turbines. Open-source autopilot, composite wing, small ducted micro-turbine.

Where We Are

Vancouver, British Columbia. All design, simulation, and engineering happens here. Manufacturing is handled by local CNC shops, marine composites yards, and PMA generator specialists. Deployment is in BC waters.

How We Work

Open toolchain (OpenFOAM, QBlade, OpenFAST, FreeCAD, ArduPilot). Published physics (NACA profiles, BEMT, Betz limit, Bernoulli). Measurable hardware (every design runs through CFD before it is cut). Small team. Short loops. Real deployments.
